Appearance of RSF details on Provisional website queried

category national | miscellaneous | press release author Monday May 31, 2004 00:04author by Ailín Mac Giolla Bhuidhe - Dublin Republican Sinn Féinauthor email RSF_Tallaght at hotmail dot comauthor address 223 Parnell Street, Dublin 1 Report this post to the editors

The appearance of Republican Sinn Féin literature on the offical website of the Provisional movement has been queried by Republican Sinn Féin Tallaght today

The page in question (http://sinnfein.org/indexr.html) contains pictures of our President Ruairí Ó Bradaigh and Vice Presidents Des Long and Des Dalton along with a brief description of our party principles lifted straight from our own website. It has been only recently published as it features a photograph of our local Conamara election candidate Tomás Ó Curraoin taken immediately after his nomination was accepted on May 15th last. Hidden keywords such as "RSF and Ruairi O Bradaigh" have been included on the page in an attempt fool web users into thinking they are clicking on the official RSF website.

The page also states that "Supporters can keep current (sic) on the various RSF campaigns by joining the internet mailing list above." However subscribing to this mailing list results in people receiving statements from the Provisionals and not RSF. A donation is also requested to sign up to the mailing list. Republican Sinn Féin already publishes its own free mailing list which can be found at saoirse.rr.nu We would have to ask what the motives behind this whole page are because it seems to be a sinister attempt to confuse our own supporters into thinking they are supporting RSF when of course they are not. We are now calling on the Provisionals to remove the page from their site immediately and to refrain from using our name in the future.
