The Sunday Papers (& the Saturday Papers too).

category international | miscellaneous | opinion/analysis author Sunday May 16, 2004 21:30author by iosaf the ipsiphi Report this post to the editors

being this weeks hymn sheet and game plan.

We are going to make an extra special effort on the 17th of May 2004.

If you check your agenda and planners, you will see that May 17 is going to be an important day.

So do whatever you do for May 17.

Status of the Western Cultural Enemy:-

Bush has now fallen behind Kerry for the first time in a U.S. voter intention opinion poll.(1*)

France has topped Germany in the country least liked by Israeli citizens for the first time.(2*)

Rumsfeld is being offered to us on a plate.
& we haven't even danced like salome yet!
So, 300 prisoners out, apologies not yet all round, arab league gonna talk 23-24/5, and 33 years of ViagraMan are now to be looked at.
This will be fun. It will mean a completely new editorial, documental and even coffee table intepretation of the Iraq/Iran wars and the proxy tactics used by both sides.

(We have a non-aggression thingy with the Ruskies for the moment. Leave vlad the Ras-Putin alone for the moment.)

"coach chat":-

Powell and Rice ought be every thinking libertarian's, democrat's, egalitarian's and freaky's target this next week. Let us test the ethnic sincerity of Bush's doves and apologists. The extended retro-time frame will prove very useful. Older readers, writers, politicians and Europeans and indeed Russians and way hey Arabs, will be delighted to re-visit Daddy Bush.

Blair will go if he takes Bush down too. And guarantees no return to the "bush dynasty".

It is not certain @ the moment, whether or not pushing Blair out by May 17 will bring down Bush by June 30th.

Bertie (our lad on 30/6/04) will not be raking Romani's job, that brendan o'c hsa a wicked sense of humour, I almost wet myself laughing, har har har, dollop on the sarcasm why not?
but hey he really has excelled himself in the international parlour game circuit. Sloppy big Hugs, Bertie man, you have made it to the next level.
There's a health pack and some special powers on your left. You're ok till the elections.

This next pre-May 17th we all either learn Scottish or patiently let them do the mooting, the Scot has the floor. (That's is if we aren't mainlander Europeans yet)

We have a non-aggression thingy with the Ruskies.

"The Great Campaign", of ending the wars in the Levant to the Middle East has carried the momentum of one of Hanibal's elephants over the Alps and to the Rubicon.

We have a few days to think less about it, remembering that most of those to be now "led" (the voters of middle and lower U.S. America) are very much slower thinkers than we are, and it is of not matter to them that Bush is not even a parody of Scipio junior.

So this week, ignore Bush and let Kerry display his wares. For we have not yet been offered full and open sight on the real target of this crusade against Western Evil.
So till May 17, let's see what Mr Kerry has to say to us, to presuade us that as we many believe, Nadar is the only choice to Darth Vader.

Let Powell's outrage that Berg's murder has not prompted enough disgust and condemnation in the World (with particular emphasis on the arab world) bounce back like over chewed bubble gum on his face.

Rice as we know, is the most powerful professed and practising presbyterian in the world, let us see her speak Scottish.

room 101 :-

May 17, is a very important day for computer people.
this is list of orgs/internet users who are opposed to developments in intellectual property. which shall be dealt with 17/5/04 in €urope.
This is one of our other "Great Campaign", the fight against immoral and irrational control of information by capitalist laws.

We have less "all round support" in this other Great Campaign even though it is as wise, as well thought out, as tippy toppy insightful and intelligent. But most European politicians and "business leaders" are alas slower thinkers than we are.

http://demo.ffii.org/bxl/inserturl.php
and read the info @:-
http://patents.caliu.info/index.en.html
http://drcwww.kub.nl/dbi/instructie/eu/en/T21.htm

Meanwhile, loads of people in Northern Ireland (and northern ireland) have been well pissed off over computer privacy infringement and unprecedented levels of nuisance hackery. It would be prudent of the people who do this sort of thing, to consider the great geo-political cyber stage and not only the "Great Work" of Europe, but the more relevant than ever "Great Work let information be Free" which we are slowly negotiating with our really great new chums the Chinese.
¿got that?
practise your code on someone else.
or each other. None of us like seeing the data tree of one our island's newswire/forums corrupted. It is a serious attack on our core values.

If you're surfing:-
go look at:- http://www.india.indymedia.org
it's full of non homespun articles that like flotsam do the fertilisation thing for us in inydmedia land. Everything's there @ the moment, de-saffronazi-ing, the federal reserve, Mr Chomksy, gossip on the Ghandi's, and stuff about Isreal.

Status of the Enemy within:-

the Bush dynasty disaster has been marked throughout the European homeland by increased racism, and ultra-right activity. This is natural, many of these groups find their funding and political support in the USA.
Al lthis despite serious efforts made by both left and right wign moderate politicians and theorists to contain such extremism.

Yesterday's key demonstration organised by SOS Racism in France, against anti-Semitism in that country, stoking extremist diatrabes from all sections of the "Trio of Sion". (you remember the mountain "berg" we are all building?)

That would be "symbolic no?".

Oh and on the personal note, loads of Chilean news at http://del-sur.net/ .
Saw Carlinhos Brown last night, hundreds of thousands of people doing the Brazilian happy dance in the street thing, local mayor up on the bus off his head, wish he could be like that all the time. Could you do that Bertie?

the Head of the Iraq ruling council, which is that enitity supposedly encharged and entrusted with the legitimate affairs of statehood, and reconstruction of the illegally occupied former Baathist tyranny has been smithereen'd.

:- Abdel-Zahraa Othman, a Shia Muslim who was widely known as Izzadine Saleem, was among at least four - and perhaps as many as eight - Iraqis killed in the blast.

The explosion destroyed his car and two others as they waited to go into the coalition headquarters in Baghdad, and the car carrying the bomb was adjacent to the council president's car when it exploded, witnesses said.

Saleem is arabic for peace.

Using that name, much I suppose as I do "Mr o'as if" or "Ignatius the indignant" Mr Othman wrote lots.
lots. every day lots.

from the notice in the British mainstream media updates:-
"Mr Saleem, a writer, philosopher and political activist, served as editor of several newspapers and magazines. He was the leader of the Islamic Dawa movement in the southern city of Basra, and was one of 25 council members to have held the organisation's rotating presidency.

Labour MP Ann Clwyd, Tony Blair's human rights envoy to Iraq, said she was shocked by the news of Mr Saleem's death. "He was an extremely gentle man, and he really is the very last person I would have expected to be targeted," she said"
http://www.guardian.co.uk/Iraq/Story/0,2763,1218532,00.html

you may use his name as a search term.

It is not appropriate today to write "Shalom = Saleem = Pax". But I'm a cheeky monkey so I'll link to words and words written by me last year on Baghdad imc, that I still wish read, in the dead man's neck of the woods so to write, so to speak, so to daily raise your voice against these monsters of Hell.

Oh and yesterday saw citizens of the Dominican Republic come to Spain from all over Europe, I saw a group of about a hundred from Switzerland, they came to vote in their country's election. Dominican Republic, named after Dominic (he of the mountain Sion and the order of preachers) nieghbours Haiti. (you remember we did Haiti earlier this year). The liberation party has won the election easily, despite the detonation of a small bomb on the border with Haiti. Maybe soon the Dominicans will be able to afford more consulates and diplomats and they won't have to travel so far to vote, but they seemed pretty chuffed with the graffiti and Carolinhos Brown nonetheless.

Oh and closer to home a small bomb has not detonated at a SF members house.

Today is small bomb day.
We have told you before:-
"we don't want any big bomb days".
So get rid of Bush.

directive 19:- "don't lay it on with a shovel joe"

The British Education Minister,
Charles Clarke has issued a statement to the Daily Telegraph conerning one of the stories of today "17/5/04". Mr Blair.

I am not presently responsible for the Daily Telegraph. It's the home paper of Little England which stretches from the eastern West Country to zone 4 London. Little England houses 20 million British subjects who are well dressed, mannered, and spoken. These people vote consistently for each other. They are all Tories. Members of the Conservative and Unionist party of GB to put it technically. Conrad Black was the man you'd need to look at, whom The Guardian named as "the black artist of english media". Mr Black who used write letters to his own paper, is looking for someone else to take over the DT at the moment. It would help if you are a Tory.
Anyway the statement includes these choice lines:-
"He absolutely believes, not only that he should stay, but more over, that he has a major role to play in leading the party in the country for the foreseeable future"

We of hogworts have always loved that line, "foreseeable future". It cracks us up everytime.

Mr Clarke (no relation to Tom Clarke) has also confirmed to Little England, that the US/K entity, [note this use of my own term] will speed the withdrawl from Iraq.

The year 2006 has been suggested for withdrawl of UK regular troops, of which there are presently declared 7000+ in Iraq.

For the benefit of foreign readers, in Ireland "northern Ireland" there have been between 9000+ and 13000+ annually permanently garrisoned troops over the majority of the last forty years.

Mr Clarke also appeared on Radio 4.
Radio 4, is to Little England what Gay Byrne was to Ireland. The helping companion through the day. I must admit that back when I was more normal, in those days of the madrigal writing, and the wench worrying, and the sonnets and long long before all this RTS! type blogging, and even long before the best most tranquil ever ever livingroom with the best sattelite TV I designed, I was well pissed off when they changed the women's hour schedule.
Charles Clarke had this to say this morning :-

"I don't believe there is some kind of movement of the tectonic plates taking place. I don't believe, in the Cabinet or elsewhere, there are people preparing themselves for some new situation,"
I'm absolutely certain he wants to stay. I think he should stay ... I think he is the best prospect for our party and the country at the next general election."

Shortly after :-

News Broke (try and get the chronological order thing). about (1) the bombing by Al Rachid of Mr Saleem, (2) the explosion of a Sarin warhead in Iraq

For very obvious reasons, Mr Abdel-Zahraa Othman, is going to be printed up tomorrow as Mr Salim, not "saleem".

It's not quite as silly as "shi'ite v. shia".
However all the 1.3 billion muslims who can read, will still read "mr Saleem". & like they know what it means. This is as silly as "shi'ite v. shia".
They will also know what "al Rachid" means, and how it contrasts with "al Qaeda". But you don't have to know anything like that.
They won't have an idea about Heathrow, or the Sweeney, and that's probably dandy.

Also the IDF has now sealed Rafah.

The IDF has today 17/5/04 isolated Rafah from the rest of Gaza and neighboring Egypt.
The war machine of Sharon is now deployed at regular intervals between Rafah and the neighboring town of Khan Yunis.

He had last night recieved calls from his own family relatives, who are like "shitting bricks".

Rice, the most powerful presbytarian in the world, has said that Bush will do his best to stop what is happening in Rafah.

perhaps "mañana". After all he is just the man who holds the office, the world is encouraged to look to in moments of dire crises when like everyone is shitting bricks and an army mobilises within a stone's throw of an international frontier.

He must be busy.

If he visits Israel, he will be amonst a people who remember invitations to Munich and faces blanche still. So he ought be happy to know that in the last hour, despite all this "brickshitting" and "house but well divided panic" the Knesset has approved the legalisation of the OZ unit which does special visitor security to the state of Israel's parliament. The OZ unit is made of former Mossad people, and is responsible for guarding all guests and people toddling about in the Knesset of Israel. But till this evening interestingly lacked the "license to kill", which takes the nerves out of anyone's trigger finger.

the light aside:-

Walter Kennedy, (I've been doing the FitzK credentials as part of my sinister Irish emergency phase - you might have missed it, mostly in u.s. site posts) was an Irish pirate, who was hanged in 1721. Before that we know he sailed with Bartholomew Robert, who was a bad muther fuckah! and that both had sailed with Howell Davis.
To get an impression of their worrying of British slavers and portoguese men o' war almost 300 years ago, go google their names.

I'm delighted someone is asking it at last.
I'm sick to the back teeth of wisdom, getting early morning phonecalls about some poor people quaking in their wellies because those effin greenpeace pirates are doing another door to door inspection, ripping down the flags, not being polite, demolishing the houses, and the language out of them.

Don't worry Mr Bush.

the President of the Italian Republic has written a short and open letter to John Paul 2, the pope coz it's his birthday today.

if you read italian you can read the letter here:-

if you don't read italian, he says (more or less) "happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, you look like a monkey and you live in the zoo, the human rights violations are terrible in Iraq, no-one has any idea how many battalions you are, and would you not get around to doing a crusade?"

Meanwhile, in more secular Italy, Burlusconi will address the Parliament of Italy, on Thursday to outline the future mission in Iraq. He has said this presence is "essential".
tomorrow he talks to Kofi, the man Tony Blair bugged, and then Bush the man the Chinese bug. (we hope they do, if they're not,- why aren't they?)
the italians are admitting 16 militia killed and 26 wounded in the battle for their base at Libeccio in Nassiriya (iraq) [more than 2000miles east of Italy] {not traditionally a catholic country}.
They claim to have retaken the base, which they lost yesterday. But they're not hiding the fact that they are facing "a serious situation".

Condoleence Rice has given an interview to El Pais (Spain) , in which over two pages, she suggests nobody ought be so surprised at what has so far occured in Iraq and hinted that "it could get worse before it gets better".

El Pais, didn't mention her status as "Most powerful presbyterian in the world", maybe coz Spain is very very catholicke. It did though mention her sttatus as "close friend of Dubya".

Nothing really to report, it's more a feely feely interview, without any _hard info_. Except to say that she thinks the presently cold relationship between France/Germany and the USA will thaw, "eventually", and is "natural", and she does mention her speciality in Stalinist Russia. This is certainly news to me, but apparantly thre are many similarities between Stalinist Russia and the Baath party, and she makes short reference to "lots of books" she has read on the subject.
She also suggets that there ought not be new legislation to oversee the transfer of power. (30/6/04). She said that U.N. resolution 1,511 ought provide the legal basis for that.

So, you thought we had left the resolutions behind us didn't you? And I'm sure quite a few of you have lost track of the resolutions which were centre stage in the lead-up to the war, when every thinking person's breakfast sounded akin to
"munch munch sleep alright dear?"
"munch munch oh yes dear like a log."
"munch munch I see resolution 1511 is up again."
"munch munch, oh really, see I told you were thinking ahead when we took out the subscription to SSRI."
"oh yes dear, how could I ever have doubted you".

This is the text of Resolution 1511, passed unanimously by the UN Security Council on 16 October 2003, sponsored by the USA, the UK, Spain and Cameroon.

you'll find the rest of the resolutions there as well, oh dear, it looks like we're back to cambridge....

It will almost be like old times today in Washington. Burlusoni is meeting Kofi now and Bush later, "official", and guess who else is in town? José Maria Aznar!
Sexy if not slightly diminuitive mr Aznar, former president of Spain, has been spending the week touring the USA, promoting his book, and his drumming up support for his "come back tour". Today Mr Aznar will call (as a pal) on Mr Bush. He has just completed a private breakfast with Rumsfeld.
Of course they won't be discussing anything official or sensitive, if Mr Bush wants to hang out with his old friends, he can, and there's nothing unusual about this meeting at all at all. Of course Mr Bush hasn't seen Mr ZP the current president of Spain since M11, nor is there timetabled any official meeting, but that's international democracy the Bush way, full of sensitivity and protocol.

La Vanguardia (Spain) has hunted out a lovely moment from the 1920s when Winston Churchill then "secretary for dark skinned people and hot countries" authorised the use of chemical weapons in Iraq. Protesting the horrified effette fabian types who wished vote against such action, Mr Churchill, said "this house can not protest the use of such arms against savages".
He had a lovely way with words, and got a Nobel Prize for his version of history. Which interestingly no-one ever reads. This is probably the best type of history there is.

Liberatión (France) has an interesting article on Hunger. Seemingly there are 800,000,000 people in the world who have problems with nutrition. Nothing new in that you say, quite, but what is interesting is that more than 30,000,000 of them live in Europe. liberatión suggests that that the poor of central Europe, have cultural problems with the cultivation of vegetables. This makes perfect sense to me. Which is why I have long advocated the free and open reclamation of public space for the cultivation of vegetables and medicinal herbs. We have a lot of public parkland, which is wasted with the cultivation of lawn grass, which could be better used for growing vegetables and marijuana.

Naomi Klein in Today's Guardian tells us the torturers of Abu Ghraib were Mc workers who couldn't get jobs in psy-ops in the homeland.

Mr van rjies who was made responsible for EU counter terror policy in the aftermath of M11, has been completely google washed now, I left his CV here at that time, but it's edited now. I suppose it could be found if we went trawling through the back files, but it's not too important. Anyway Mr Van rjies yesterday got up the noses of civil rights whingers by handing over airplane data to the USA. What can I tell you off the top of my head? Mr Van rjies doesn't want a FBI/CIA EU equivalent, he's a specialist in neurology and grey matter stuff, and he doesn't have any proper degrees or qualifications. He's a bit "vampirish" in appearance, aquiline nose, dark eyes, pallid skin, (that clichéd aristo-look). He used to be the official entrusted with relations between the Dutch royal family and the Dutch government. This meant he had to tell the cops when the royals were going out on the bikes.
He is very clever and responsible for keeping us all safe. He hasn't given the US everything they have long asked for, only credit card details, normal passenger manifests and home contact details will be shared.
I still think he's the best [googlewashed/_non person_] for the job.

Colombia.
oh things are very bad.
And don't we know it.
It is imperative that the Irish Government do all they can for any remainding Irish citizens in that country who want to leave. & I'm not saying anymore about it. 'cept to comment it has been going a really long time now, and even the most prejudiced will surely have realised that this situation is not serving Irish or International peace making interests. The recent border incidents between Venezuela and Colombia helping perhaps to clarifiy certain things.

Today there is a General Strike in Colombia.

NYC :- you'll all be looking at Moore's movie I suppose, but one thing you probably won't be reading, is Kitty Kelley's book (to be published Sept 14,2004) on the Bush dynasty. For those who don't know her, kitty gets up famous rich people's noses and into their laundry baskets. She's done everyone who can be thrashed. I suspect she's persona non grata in the UK, for writing about their royal family. anyway read a teaser blurb at http://nyc.indymedia.org/newswire/display/93548/index.php

have a lovely day.
people will die needlessly everywhere today, but don't let that effect you. Most will die of hunger or poor sanitation, your elected and non elected "ex-leaders" consistently do their best to stop this.
Other people will die needlessly in Iraq and Palestine, this is quite probably because they still haven't progressed from the Churchillian "savage" status yet. If we ignore their suffering a few decades more, they might just cop on to themselves, like the catholickes and dissenters of northern ireland, who stopped it all as soon as they realised it wasn't civilised.
So that's it. If you can google wash a flying swaud dutchman, you could just easily googlewash the section "I" from the international community, and we wouldn't have to worry about Iran, Iraq, Ireland, Isreal or Italy ever ever again.

If anyone has any real work to offer me,
please do so.

has as you know said she wont be India's leader.
This is a result of a saffronazi campaign which tells us more about the problems we _will_ face with the 3rd world country as it comes to terms with it's history, neighbours and place in the civilised world as it continues to suffer horrible inequalities of wealth.
Saffronazi is the word.

Last night, I went down the port with a chilean friend, looked at the boats, as I do sometimes, worried a bit, I like the swedish naval ensign which has been in port since blix visited, I like the sailing boats which just look so cool and preferrable to the yachts of millionaires who visit, and some young americans passed by,(perhaps they liveon a yacht) and we overheard this:-
"I love my president.
I really do, but the people he's surrounded by are evil, I just dont think anyone sees the good about Bush, I reckon he's been set up from the backrooms."

I'd love to sail away and hoist a pirates flag.
but i can't pay the rent nor bills.

failed as you know. That week of May 16-25 saw loads of his own party try their best to dump him.
He was buzzing about the place, and did seem almost likely to go at one stage, but by midweek, not even the 100 most influential people in Scotland could get him to leave.

open letter to BHS & Tony Blair on the occasion of the local and European Elections 2004 against the backdrop of changed European Security conditions.

Dear Tony,
You've thrashed the Party that once was a movement.
I suggest you go now. As you know you're not top of my list, I can deal with you hanging on by a thread, but what I can not deal with, nor can Mr Blunkett, nor can most we know, is the idea of you handing the Conservative Party of Great Britian and Northern Ireland, four more years of legislative power.
I awake this morning to a very dark and long list of councils throughout England and Wales that now will be Tory controlled. This does not signal any improvement on a wide range of issues close to our heart.
You really should have gone when we asked you. Now Mr Blunkett who as ever holds the line, is going to give you a very stern talking to.
You had better listen.

yours as ever,
ipsiphi. "doing my best to keep European Chronology peaceful". (cloud-cuckoo-lander)
