This whole corporatisation is happening in Ireland too. Remember when food was freshly grown in individually run farms? They would go to the local market, sell their produce at a neat price and there was no middle man involved.
That changed and now co-ops have pretty much assimilated all the farms into a mean manufacturing business. Yes, it's more efficient, faster, cost productive and probably even good for the country; but if you ask me, the same level of 'profit before quality' mentality will seep in. Probably it's happening already, after all there are alot of US corporations scurrying around the countryside.
Has the US mainstream media covered this issue? Or are they still blaming the Canadians? Ha.
