The Covid response was not an error, and it was not the result of rushing to counter an unknown pathogen. It was a lot of people, mostly professionals, systematically doing what they knew was wrong, says Dr David Bell.

Letter from George Bush.. to George Bush

category international | anti-war / imperialism | opinion/analysis author Tuesday November 18, 2003 18:15author by David Report this post to the editors

Published In the Guardian today, the cream of the conservatives welcomes The unelected president of a pseudo democracy to Britain

Dear George,

I would like to welcome you to our country. Both as a person and a president, you are a nice guy, and it is a good idea for both yourself and the people of England that you have taken the time to come over to visit our country. I am a self-employed person, and have been getting quite a lot of free advertising from your being in the public light for many years now. I would like to thank you for that. Only the other day I heard someone say on the radio: "George Bush, he's doing a guvvy [Newcastle slang, meaning a little job for oneself] job. I've just seen him parked outside the house!" I would have voted for you, George. I think your father was nice as well, when he was president about 10 years ago. Although my family and friends vary a little in their opinion, I think you are the right man for the job.
George Bush
Builder

This is perhaps the most coherent and reasonable of all the letters published in that Guardian feature who supported Bush's visit to the UK.

The majority count, and they are against Mr. Bush and his corporate feudalistic policies.

Of those that expressed an opinion, 43% said they favoured the Bush visit, 36% were against.

Get your facts right.

43% is not a majority. Anyway, what is meant is that 43% would not oppose the visit. That is a different thing.

43% favour the visit, 36% are against, the rest have no fixed opinion.

today and tomorrow it would be _most excelent_ were he to stay at least a fortnight.

I also acknowledge the presence of the "builder".
The Guardian have excelled themselves. (teeheehee very in joke).[G.W. Bush can you find time to visit York and Scotland as well?]

Please Stay in Engurlund Mr Bush for you are so unwelcome in the photo-pages of history.

...hasta la victoria siempre, ya basta! que se vayan todos!

agree with last comment. Lots of ppl want him to visit to GIVE HIM HELL......other, less confrontational folk, just want to 'maintain dialogue' with someone they disagree with on policy...that leaves waaay less that 43% - after all, those that choosenotto vote can sometimes express opinion in a poll..........

you ask a simple, loaded question in a poll, you get a complex answer which, upon further analysis, says everythin and nothin.

These type of crude polls are just headline grabing soundbytes for a media bent on maintaining the status quo and the inherently short attention spanzzzzzzzzzzzz ........sorry, I've forgotten what I was .......
