 Organised by the Progressive Trade Union Alliance (PTUA) The Dublin Council of Trade Unions (DCTU) are having their monthly delegates meeting next Tuesday, November 11th at 8pm in the Connolly Hall, Liberty Hall, Eden Quay, Dublin. There will be an emergency motion from the Amalgamated Transport & General Workers Union (ATGWU) calling on the DCTU to organise an all-out city-wide 24-hour work stoppage in protest at the bin tax and the jailing of protestors. However as things currently stand the DCTU will vote down the ATGWU motion. Therefore we are organising a lobby of the Dublin Council of Trade Unions delegates meeting starting at 7:30pm to lobby the DCTU delegates before they head into the meeting. Note we're not falling into the trap that some have fallen for before and called this "a mass lobby" and only 6 or 7 turn up. We're realistic and live in the real world. Hopefully our lobbying will work and the DCTU will organise an all-out citi-wide 24-hour work stoppage in conjunction with ourselves and the other Trades Councils across the country and organise this all-out 24-hour work stoppage nationwide for Friday, November 21st. However if as is quite possible the DCTU try to resist our pressure we are resolute in our dtermination to organise the "Nationwide Day Of Action Against the bin tax" on Friday November 21st and we will be mobilising as many workers, students, community groups, resident's and tenant's organisations and ordinary folk to come out in force on Friday the 21st and cripple this country. And this is only for starters.
