The Muslim man who attacked Koran-burning protester Hamit Coskun with a knife has been spared jail after the judge said he "lost his temper". Hamit, meanwhile, remains in hiding, as concerns about two-tier justice grow.

Church leaders are too quick to condemn Tommy Robinson and the Unite the Kingdom march, says Chris Larkin. We don't know what Jesus would have made of our politics, but we can?t just assume he?d have been a Lib Dem voter.

The Assocation of Anti Authoritarian Autonomous Anarchist Artists (AAAAAA) pre-RTS press release

category dublin | anti-capitalism | press release author Friday September 19, 2003 13:46author by AAAAAA Report this post to the editors

On Monday, art strike!

The Association of Anti Authoritarian Autonomous Anarchist Artists (AAAAAA) calls for all artists repressed by the capitalist system to take to the streets for the "Repaint The Streets" demo, taking place on Monday September 22nd, at 5pm at the Spike in Dublin's O'Connell Street.

For TOO LONG the art elite have conspired to make art an inaccessible and exclusionary form of human expression. Astronomical prices for scrawls by "artistes" and high brow galleries take art away from the people, and put it in the hands of money makers and shakers who do not give a shit about creativity and joy. The AAAAAA is taking direct action on Monday to change this.

Although the "Repaint The Streets" action will be primarily focused on painting cycle lanes and various other non-motorised transport friendly road signs, we encourage all would-be artists to use the road as a giant canvas. The street encourages direct participation and dialogue with the audience, and brings art to a crowd that would otherwise never be exposed to it.

So bring your stencils, brushes, spray cans, palettes, and whatever else you feel necessary to vent your self expression. The "Repaint The Streets" action will accomodate space for those who wish to create art on the day, as well as those who wish to highlight the need to get rid of cars from Dublin's city centre.

On Monday September 22nd, 5pm at the Spike, the AAAAAA will strike.

The cast and crew of Sinead's Tea House support you with open arms, weaping hearts and empty tea cups. The empty tea cup is the international show of universal sollidarity - "No cup runith over 'til all cups runith over!" Carry on! Bikes lanes by sunset! If I can't paint I don't want to be a part of your revolution!!
Tea for everyone with paint on their hands.
Yours,
Loop
