Applications for asylum were up 14% on the previous 12 months after a surge in migrants reaching Britain in small boats, according to official figures. So much for Labour's promise to "smash the gangs".

offsite link The Truth About Britain?s Wildfires Thu Aug 21, 2025 15:00 | Paul Homewood
It is simplistic to blame the recent spike in wildfires on climate change, writes Paul Homewood. A more likely cause is the rewilding of uplands, supposedly to cut carbon emissions, and poor management of forested land.

For an independent socialist Mercia

category international | miscellaneous | press release author Tuesday August 19, 2003 14:46author by Mercian socialist - Mercian Socialist Partyauthor email merciansocialistparty at yahoo dot co dot uk Report this post to the editors

The Mercian Socialist Party

The Mercian Socialist Party has been formed by socialists of various traditions to fight for an independent socialist Mercia.

The Mercian Socialist Party was formed by Socialists of Mercia from various traditions. We have taken the advice of the SSP in Scotland and have decided to pull away from England and provide a realistic alternative to the working class of Mercia. Mercia is a historically opressed nation which has been in false unity with the kingdoms of Northumberland, Wessex, Scotland, Wales and Cornwall. We seek to revive Mercia as an independent Socialist nation.
