Present case numbers for the ?K? variant Super-Flu don't justify the hype, says Dr David Livermore. Perhaps it's the media lust for fear porn, or perhaps the Government's fear of the strike, but it's not a Super-crisis.

In the good old days, children's comics had one purpose: to be funny. Now, the Beano sees its mission as 'mental health' ? and has its own in-house child psychology unit to keep it on message, says Steven Tucker.

We demand the Turkish state cease it's military violence and attacks on urban districts in Bakur (Northern) Kurdistan, in South Eastern Turkey in which over 600 civilians have been killed in the last 9 months. In addition the AKP government's arbitrary imprisonment of lawyers, academics and journalists exposing and denouncing the violence in the Kurdish cities must not be ignored. We denounce the current position of EU governments who are turning a blind eye to these blatant and abominable human rights violations in return for a sordid deal to return refugees and migrants fleeing the violence of the war in Syria and Turkey's own violence in the South East. The complicity through silence of EU governments, from Germany to Ireland, cannot be allowed to pass.

In addition to violence against the Kurdish people within its own borders, in Syria the Turkish state's hostility to Kurdish autonomy anywhere is expressed in their continuing support, along with Qatar and Saudi Arabia, to ISIS, Al Nusra (Al Qa'ida in Syria) and other jihadists whose fanatical sectarianism is a threat to ordinary people both in Syria, Iraq and Turkey, and internationally in Europe and elsewhere. We demand an end to Turkish army shelling YPG/J forces in Rojava, their support for the jihadist killers and their blockade of the border preventing the flow of food, medical supplies and aid volunteers for the reconstruction of Kobane and other war-damaged cities of the area.

Please come and show your support and opposition to the crimes against humanity being carried out by Turkey.
