Bill Henderson writes about those who deny climate change and he also touchs on some other hot topics.

There are people who deny that climate change is happening, that it is caused by increasing greenhouse gases (GHG) from burning fossil fuels, or that it is potentially so serious as to be civilization even humanity threatening. There are worldview and monetary reasons for such denial, but since 97 percent to 98 percent of the climate researchers most actively publishing in the field support the tenet that combustion of fossil fuels is the source of global climate change their denial costs valuable time now but is ultimately untenable. read full story / add a comment

Yet another report has cleared scientists at the University of East Anglia’s (UEA) Climatic Research Unit (CRU) of dishonesty in the presentation of data on global warming. However it has stated that: “We do find that there has been a consistent pattern of failing to display the proper degree of openness, both on the part of CRU scientists and on the part of the UEA.”

But the inquiry found that the scientists “honesty and rigour” were “not in doubt” and there was “no evidence” of behaviour that would undermine assessments by the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). read full story / add a comment

In 1990, America’s President George H. W. Bush awarded William C. Rogers III, the Legion of Merit for his service as a commanding officer in the US navy. Two years previously Rogers had been the commander of the USS Vincennes when the warship shot down an Iranian civilian aircraft over the Persian Gulf killing all 290 people aboard . On the twenty-second anniversary of the atrocity last Saturday, relatives of the victims sailed to the spot where Iran Air A300 Airbus came down. In a message read out at the ceremony, Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad asked :
"In which culture ... can that Legion of Merit be awarded to the criminal USS Vincennes commander." read full story / add a comment

Abu Daoud is dead but his memory lives on in the struggle for a free Palestine.

The mastermind behind the 1972 Munich Olympics attacjk in which 11 Israeli athletes (who were IDF Reservists) were killed, has died, his daughter and Palestinian officials say. Mohammed Oudeh died of kidney failure a day after he was taken to hospital in Syria, his daughter said. He was 73.

Oudeh - also known under his guerrilla name Abu Daoud - did not directly take part in the attack. He later said he had no regrets because he considered the athletes, as military reservists, to be legitimate targets.

The Turkish humanitarian group IHH has released an assessment of the flotilla mission last month in which nine activists died when Israeli forces raided the vessel in international waters.

"This operation was hostile from the very beginning, directed towards killing and killing as many as possible. Israeli soldiers did not open fire on the ships as a warning. They opened fire to kill," the report stated. read full story / add a comment

‘We have been poor for hundreds of years, even thousands of years, and they are living in their fancy resorts and mansions"

This quote from one of the ‘Red Shirt’ protestors in the recent demonstrations in Thailand was an example of the process known there “as ta sawang, or a ‘brightening of the eyes’ – an awakening, a realization of a truth they had not recognized” (International Herald Tribune 21 May 2010).
