Promoting Sexual Health in a Changing Ireland This public meeting aims to provide clear information about the types of infections that exist, prevention and safe practice measures, and services and treatment options available in order to provide education on and promote proactive sexual health and wellness. The meeting will also address the social and behavourial attitudes and awareness towards STIs in Ireland today. Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) remain a significant public health concern in Ireland today. There are more than 25 diseases that are transmitted through sexual activity and the cause, treatment and prevention vary considerably for each. Proactive sexual health, education, counselling, identification of symptoms, understanding of treatment options and pre-exposure to vaccines of people at risk all play critical roles in preventing and controlling STIs.
