Over The Edge New Writer of the Year competition
sponsored by Charlie Byrne’s Bookshop
and judged by Alan Jude Moore

Over The Edge is running an exciting new creative writing competition, open to both poets and fiction writers. The winner will receive a cash prize of €300, a spot as a Featured Reader at an Over The Edge: Open Reading, and the title Over The Edge New Writer of The Year 2007. The competition is sponsored by Charlie Byrne’s Bookshop.

The closing date is July 1st 2007. A shortlist of six will be announced in Charlie Byrne’s Bookshop on Wednesday, August 1st, 2007. The Over The Edge New Writer of The Year 2007 will be announced at the Over The Edge reading in Galway City Library on Thursday, August 30th, 2007. The winner will be a Featured Reader at a reading to be scheduled in Galway City Library in Winter 07/08.

The judge will be Alan Jude Moore. Alan Jude Moore was born in Dublin in 1973. His poetry has been widely published in Ireland, Europe and the USA in publications such as Poetry Ireland Review, The Stinging Fly, The Burning Bush, Kestrel, The Black Mountain Review, Poetry Salzburg Review and in translation by Italian annual Pelagos. His fiction has been short-listed for the Hennessy Literary Award and published in various journals. His first collection of poetry, Black State Cars, was published by Salmon Poetry in 2004. A selection of poems from Black State Cars was published last year in translation by the Moscow literary journal, Novaya Junost. He currently lives in Dublin.
