New Cork yahoo group
To keep people who join the group informed about alternative and left-wing and events and meetings and demos in Cork, everything from The SWP to the Tibetan Buddhists to community arts. Its getting hard to flypost and hopefully this group will make it easier to publicise events. Anyone can send messages to the whole group, but anyone posting stuff -which isn't publicising an event, -or is e.g: racist, homophobic or just right-wing will have that message removed and may be barred from the group. Another Cork, isn't, at the moment anyway a discussion forum, to avoid getting bogged down in dogma wars. .

and the City Council is being resisted, and its view of flyposting as litter is being challenged.
I'm not offering the group as "the" answer, but as one tactic.
I didn't say that the Tibetan Buddhists were left wing. My description of Another Cork is "alternative and left-wing".
although the Buddhist view of reality as interdependent and relative, its emphasis on universal compassion and its belief in challenging all assumptions are very compatible with left activism.
(I'm not Buddhist myself, I'm Pagan.)

I wish ye luck. But why cant you flypost? If the local Co. Co. have tried to make it illegal to hand out flyers or put up posters as in Galway or Dublin then a new internet resource is not the amswer and any repressive measures need to be fought and the general public not just the left in Cork need to know about whats going on.
