Applications for asylum were up 14% on the previous 12 months after a surge in migrants reaching Britain in small boats, according to official figures. So much for Labour's promise to "smash the gangs".

offsite link The Truth About Britain?s Wildfires Thu Aug 21, 2025 15:00 | Paul Homewood
It is simplistic to blame the recent spike in wildfires on climate change, writes Paul Homewood. A more likely cause is the rewilding of uplands, supposedly to cut carbon emissions, and poor management of forested land.

The Guardian, of all papers, has acknowledged that predictions about the disappearance of Arctic sea ice may ? just may ? have been exaggerated. Paging Gore Vidal: Can we have that prize back please?

I was genuinely interested in hearing people's reaction to the sanctions on Burma and the situation in Liberia.

That's all.

No mention has been made here about the sanctions the Bush administration has just slapped on Burma.

Surely it's another colonial imperial genocidal act?

Oh, and the threat to the people of Liberia.

Isn't he not the guy who was once a member of the South Dublin Co. Co. Campaign against Refuse Charges??? The guy lives in Crumlin, and his workplace is in the Crumlin/Kimmage area -whats he doing in the middle of Ballyfermot!? I take it that That old dame herself, Brid Smith is too busy trying to convince Whigfield and Allen et al, that making the SWP SEEM LIKE it's doing work on the Refuse Charges, will sell it more papers, and gain more eco-mad trustafarians from Dalkey into their ranks, than solely operating an anti-war campaign would!!

Hows the power struggle between the Boyd Barrett- Ni Fhearghail & Whigfield-Allen camps these days??

Don't ya just love the backbiting that goes on in the SWP!!!
