Day-to-day weather, with all its extremes, is "just weather", according to the IPCC. With their authority onside, we can shrug off the BBC's melodramatic climate reports and misinformation, says Mark Ellse.

The sweeping House of Commons reforms proposed by Green MP Ellie Chowns are evidence that the Mrs Dutt-Pauker types have moved from Peter Simple's columns into public life. We're in for a bumpy ride, says Sean Walsh.

i agree with mageneto... why are we allowing this american baby-killer to speak in ireland... his country is responsible for the deaths of thousands of iraqi babies and he should not be allowed in the country...

Scott Ritter may once have been knee deep in US skullduggery, but he has turned his back on most of it now and the fact that he is lending is voice to aid the anti war movement should be applauded.

I suppose it's a waste of time to point this out, but he's over here to speak out for, not against, peace. Just because he's American does that make him a baby killer? This is exactly the sort of informed debate that makes the peace movement so popular in the mainstream media...

Was at the talk last night by Ramsey Clarke and Michael Bermingham, very very interesting speakers.

Well worth going to and would recommend all go to see them.

Looking forward to Scott Ritter on Friday.

Dunno about the rights and wrongs of Scott Ritter speaking, but Clark should definitely be handled with care. He was Attorney-General in the Nixon administration and helped organise repression against the new left. Then, in a bizarre move, he became an associate of the World Workers' Party, a loopy neo-Stalinist sect based in California who defended Enver Hoxha and Kim Il Sung. Over the last decade he has defended both Saddam Hussein and Slobodan Milovsovic. American establishment journalists have made a big deal of his involvement in the anti-war movement with the group ANSWER because they desperately want to smear the movement as pro-Saddam. Personally I think he's a liability and we should be reluctant to touch him with a barge pole.

I read most of this on an American anarchist website which has a lot of articles about the authoritarian left. I cant remember the address off the top of my head but if anyone knows what Im talking about, please give the site.
