Palestinian Freedom Conference - Overcoming the Ongoing Nakba

Saturday 12th & Sunday 13th May 2018 – Liberty Hall, Eden Quay, Dublin 1

To mark the 70th anniversary of the Palestinian #Nakba, the Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign, Trade Union Friends of Palestine and BADIL Resource Center for Palestinian Residency and Refugee Rights are honoured to host an inspiring and action-focused weekend of talks from important voices in the Palestinian struggle for Freedom, Justice and Equality.

Speakers over the course of two days will include Omar Barghouti, Haneen Zoabi, Ali Abunimah, John Reynolds, Sahar Francis, Lubnah Shomali, Shir Hever, Mona El Farra, Jamal Juma’, Eitan Bronstein Aparicio, Fatin Al Tamimi and Eamon McMahon.

In late 1947, colonial Zionist paramilitary forces began the process of ethnically cleansing more than 750,000 Palestinians – two thirds of the indigenous population – from their homes, forcing them into exile so that on May 14th 1948 the state of Israel could be established in their homeland. Palestinians call this period Al Nakba, Arabic for ‘The Catastrophe’.

70 years later these Palestinians and their descendants, now numbering millions, are still denied their right of return to their homes, while in Palestine a process of ongoing ethnic cleansing via occupation, colonisation, apartheid, and cruel siege continues apace, with no intervention from the international community.

This conference will discuss how Palestinians and their international allies can overcome this ongoing seven decade Nakba, and build the strongest and most effective international solidarity movement possible to help Palestinians in their fight for freedom.

Don’t miss this unique opportunity to hear from so many leading and inspiring voices in the Palestinian struggle for liberty and self-determination. This is a TICKETED EVENT that costs only €5 per day. Spaces are strictly limited, so book your place now!
