Animal Rights Zone's "Vegan Buddies" Programme Launch

category international | animal rights | press release author Friday April 06, 2012 10:22author by ARZone - Animal Rights Zone Report this post to the editors

Worldwide vegan mentoring facility

Animal Rights Zone (ARZone) officially launches their global Vegan Buddies programme and appeals for vegan buddy mentors to assist new and aspiring vegans.

Animal Rights Zone (ARZone), the worldwide social network and advocacy site, officially launches their global Vegan Buddies programme.
ARZone’s Vegan Buddies,
* with its own website sections - http://arzone.ning.com/group/vegan-buddies -
* a podcast - http://arzonepodcasts.blogspot.com/2012/03/arzone-podca....html - featuring an “audio tour” of the programme,
* and a short introductory video - http://arzone.ning.com/video/arzone-vegan-buddies-no-1 -
is now live via the main ARZone site - http://arzone.net

Vegan Buddies is a mentoring scheme by which new and aspiring vegans can make contact and gain support from experienced vegans around the globe. ARZone hope that the scheme will be so successful online that new vegans will be able to eventually meet up with their mentors for support, encouragement, and friendship as they explore vegan philosophy and its lifestyle.

ARZone’s founding member, Ms. Carolyn Bailey said: “I’m so very pleased to announce the beginning of our new Vegan Buddies initiative. This is an exciting time for ARZone as we officially launch this global mentoring service for the vegan animal rights movement. ARZone Vegan Buddies is designed to complement existing vegan mentoring programmes run by other groups and vegan societies. Given our global reach, we plan to help co-ordinate the effort to help and assist new vegans gain the support they need in their first weeks and months of living vegan.”

The roll-out of ARZone’s Vegan Buddies will be in three stages.
1. Provision of the website space for Vegan Buddies;
2. Appealing for experienced vegans to sign up to be an ARZone Vegan Buddy mentor;
3. Making the Vegan Buddies initiative known to aspiring and new vegans in order for them to make use of the facility.

ARZone’s current announcement represents stage two in this process. One of ARZone’s Vegan Buddies co-ordinators, Dr. Roger Yates, explains: “We are now engaged in finding the existing vegans who will be the ARZone Vegan Buddies. Through the ARZone website, prospective vegan mentors can contact us on veganbuddies@arzone.net to begin the simple process of them signing up to be a Vegan Buddy. While we are recruiting these mentors, we are also researching the means by which ARZone can make its services available to new and inexperienced vegans.”

“As well as Vegan Buddies, ARZone provides a resource for all animal advocates, young and old, long-time members of the animal advocacy movement or newbies, who can benefit from the contacts they can make via the site, and the rich source of information there,” Carolyn Bailey, ARZone founder, added.

Animal Rights Zone (ARZone) was founded by animal rights advocate Carolyn Bailey in 2009. ARZone has conducted more than 80 “chat” interviews with members of the vegan and animal advocacy community, produced more than 30 podcasts, run special member’s workshops, and have conducted formal interviews with leading animal advocates such as Professor Tom Regan (The Case for Animal Rights), Professor Richard Ryder (Animal Revolution, and the person who coined the terms “speciesism”), and Patty Mark (founder of Animal Liberation Victoria in Australia and originator of the technique of Open Rescue).

That is a great idea and much needed.

Good luck.

This is a great way to introduce people to the vegan diet and lifestyle. It can sometimes be difficult for someone starting out as a vegan to know where to find animal-free food and products in their local city or town. Hopefully, people can be mentored by others from the same city or area in Ireland.

Veganism really seems to be catching on here, and there is a huge range of vegan products now available in health and wholefood shops. All delicious and guilt-free. Most of the vegans I know are vegetarians who have gone dairy-free. I love being vegan and would never go back!

This is a marvellous idea. For me, personally, going vegan is the best thing I've ever done in my life. I wish something like this had been available when I first went vegan and experienced some confusion about the lifestyle, what to eat and where to purchase cruelty free versions of everything I had grown used to. I am sure this venture will be a great help to budding vegans in showing them that a vegan lifestyle is not difficult and is actually very enjoyable.

This is a such a great idea. Being a vegan in ireland can sometimes be difficult especially if you live outside a city. So to have a person who you can chat to on an individual basis is invaluable to a new vegan. I think ARzone have done something wonderful (as usual) :)

awesome -now noone has any excuse to claim they tried being vegan but didnt hav enough information,or found it too socialy isolating (a feeble excuse when u think what the animals hav to go throuh so we can avoid ofending our friends ,or being forced to spend a little of our time replanning our diet - but sadly a common one nevertheles ) this will provide exactly the kind of one on one support that was lacking up to now.
to stop the billions of atrocitys to which our species subjects non humans,we need to fundamentaly change the way our society thinks about animals.this is what ar zone are working to achive ,an there strong anti speciesist message is xactly whats needed to inspire an educate potential vegans .
also it shouldnt be forgotten that this initiativ was the inspiration of a brilliant an selfless activist ,neil lea -its revival,an the creation of many new vegans, will be an amazing tribute

I went vegan 2 years ago and I could see the benefits as from 4 weeks after becoming vegan
My skin cleared out and my digestion improved hugely
After that I became aware about all the cruelty involved in the meat and dairy industry, and started seeing meat as animals who wanted to live
