The Irish educational system is currently failing to provide equal chance, equal access and share to graduate employment opportunities with global employers in Ireland. There seems to be a cultural over-reliance on the English language in Irish society, a lack of awareness importance of being multi-lingual at an early age and language learning time in the classroom is spent on compulsory Irish.

DEIS School Communities announce intention to proceed with protest at Department of Education & Science on Thursday
Teachers from Dublin DEIS schools have welcomed the publication by the Department of Education & Skills and the Educational Research Centre of a report which shows that “…the DEIS programme is having a positive effect on tackling educational disadvantage…” and that “…improvement is taking place in the learning achievements of pupils in DEIS primary schools…”
They have called on the Minister for Education and Skills, Ruairi Quinn, to announce an immediate reversal of all cuts in the light of this report, and have announced that the planned DEIS schools protest will proceed this Thursday in the absence of such a clear announcement. read full story / add a comment

Campaigners against staffing cuts to DEIS schools have said that the Review ordered by Minister Quinn is a move in the right direction but not enough and that the cuts must be completely reversed. Offered a place on a postgrad course unable to continue due to budget 2012. no job no hope and no independant money to do the masters.
