OscailtArticle 136 TFEU amendment, the ESM and the Fiscal Compact Treaty
Once again we are being asked to vote on yet another EU treaty. This time it is the Fiscal Treaty otherwise known as the permanent austerity treaty. Most of the people of Europe are against this treaty and they are once again relying on us although as usual most of the governments of Europe are for the treaty because well they represent the people in power -the large banks, corporations and financial elite in general. As we know they call the shots these days in every country and it has got to the stage where "investors" will lend money to governments and charge a nice rate of interest too and in this way they get to decide how much they will allow governments to spend on luxuries for the middle class and poor like health, education, social welfare, pensions, water and sewage etc. And since the financial crisis they have come to the realization that none of this is neccesary. In fact the only arms of government really required are the police, army, courts and prisons.

Anyhow in this feature the folks from People's Association Watchdog have done a really good job in going through the Fiscal Treaty line by line and doing alot of other research and analysis to discover and explains what it really means. And don't forget if enough of us vote No, the government will be back to give us plenty of more chances to vote Yes, just like they did with the Nice Treaty and the Lisbon Treaty.

Impunity:

"Impunity means the impossibility, de jure or de facto, of bringing the perpetrators of violations to account - whether in criminal, civil, administrative or disciplinary proceedings - since they are not subject to any inquiry that might lead to their being accused, arrested, tried and, if found guilty, sentenced to appropriate penalties, and to making reparations to their victims."
"Once our grossly corrupt legal profession decides to deliberately ensure that the targets of government crime cannot get any legal representation of the kind which would stop the government crime they are being subjected to, then the targets of such crime are totally on their own, and their situation is completely hopeless at the present time: as far as 1) stopping the Government crime is concerned, and 2) also as far as receiving justice and reparations in connection with the government crime (and associated C-PTSD injuries) in question."
The questions are about who's interests the system is designed to foster, and the escalating global collateral damage from their centripetal asset-stripping of the earth into their offshore reservoirs of liquidised resources and labour.

The trajectory of the program is unidirectional, and the managers have invested their egoistical existences in the program's furtherance of what they label as 'wealth creation'.
They have the population convinced that it is an inclusive general prosperity they serve, when it is, behind the Newspeak, the diametric opposite; an exclusive extraction of monetised and abstracted credit, a purely psychological numerological pseudo-scientific scam.

As the old chestnut puts it, when we've poisoned the last river and exterminated the last fish we'll realise we can't get nutrition from our coins and plastic cards. But in the meantime the system feeds its advocates. And the pro-ESM campaign has been running for months...with a unanimous consensus that we must get the right answer and there is only one right answer.

If they argued that we have to accept the shackles, but they are taking the case for fixing the problem to Brussells and other fora, and will demand reform and adjustments to ensure the now fading subsidiarity(anyone remember that carrot?)is ensured there would be some hope they give a shit about anything other than their petty careers. They are as happily in lockstep as Bertie ever was, and while they wont overtly say it, their sole wish is that all critics follow Bertie's suicidal prescription, and get gone."Not everyone despairs"http://www.indymedia.ie/article/101741#comment2892972012-04-22T11:56:07+00:00W. Having obtained a copy, it is certainly a very good analysis of what is in store. Here's some extracts from announcement:

The Treaty imposes permanent austerity on countries like Ireland while at the same time the European Central Bank is engaged in an elaborate manoeuvre to hand out money to private banks.

Under the Long Term Refinancing Operation, EU banks have received €1.1 trillion in soft loans at an interest rate of 1 percent per annum. This money has been mainly invested in government bonds which have interest rates of between 4 percent and 6 percent. This guarantees huge profits in an elaborate scam known as the ‘carry-over trade

One of the purposes of the Fiscal Treaty is to lock down spending on basic public services so that money is set aside for the repayment of these government bonds. Financial interests are driving the agenda of Europe and have promoted this treaty to ensure they get their pound of flesh,

Ireland is particularly vulnerable because the current debt to GDP ratio stands at 120 percent. Meeting the terms of the Fiscal Treaty will require cutbacks of between €5 billion and €6 billion a year.

People should think about this last sentence above. These cuts are greater than the cuts made each year over the past three years and these could well have to be made indefinitely because you can be sure cuts like that would destroy the economy so much that the GNP would sink further and our ratio of debt would still be high.
Here, the author is referring to the yen carry trade but the principle is similar within the EU. There is a lot of easy money to be made this way but it relies on the fact that countries are kept under great threat if they default on their soverign debt for the sake of their citizens.

This "scaring the shit out of countries into conforming and paying up on their bonds" is the job of sharks like "The Troika".

They do this through "memoranda of understanding", more binding treaty alterations like the ESM, by getting corrupt ex goldman sachs technocrats in place, by fostering and corrupting key government actors or by manipulating snivelling forelock tugging puffed up self important servile "useful idiots" into betraying their citizens (as is probably the case in Ireland)
“Considering the destabilizing nature of the [American] ABM system, namely the creation of an illusion of inflicting a disarming [nuclear] strike with impunity, a decision on pre-emptive deployment of assault weapons could be taken when the situation gets harder,” Gen. Makarov told the audience.

The excerpt just above has been copied from an article titled "Russia 'retains right' to pre-emptive AMD strike" dated 03 May, 2012 (i.e. today). The full text of the article can be viewed at:

I am firmly of the view that the people of the Republic of Ireland would need to be VERY cautious indeed regarding the impunity clauses -- there was MORE THAN ONE than one the last time I looked -- connected with the ESM treaties, when they think about which way they will vote on May 31st 2012.

Personally, I intend to play safe (regarding the ESM impunity clauses in question), and enter a nice big, fat "X" in the "NO" section of the May 31st Referendum Ballot Sheet.

It's very hard to beat a clear and simple approach to our ESM Referendum (and its slyly embedded impunity clauses), especially when such a very simple approach is readily available on Referendum Day.

I believe it's worth keeping in mind also the AMAZING fact (as I see things) that we are the ONLY EU nation (as far as I know) that is being given the opportunity to have our say -- as individual voters -- on the ESM business (and its impunity clauses): a fact which speaks volumes about the quality of our "genuine democracy", compared to that of our unlucky and less fortunate fellows in all of the other EU member-states.

Long live Article 6.1 of Bunreacht na hEireann (the written Constitution of the Republic of Ireland), and the supreme POWER it very clearly ENTRUSTS to the PEOPLE of the Republic of Ireland: for the purpose of having the FINAL say (where FINAL means FINAL) regarding such important social matters: matters which cannot -- at the present time at least -- be lawfully decided by the politicians and/or the lawyers, acting dangerously on their own in isolation of the PEOPLE, or by any other individual or group of individuals either.
