Greyhound exports to China may start up soon unless we can somehow stop this nightmare scenario...
While I respect Chinese culture and I genuinely like Chinese people I have met, it is sadly a fact that dogs do not get a good deal in China and that the country's animal welfare laws are almost non-existent. the Irish Greyhound Borad claims it can somehow look after greyhounds exported to China and oversee the kick-starting of a greyhound industry over there.
Unfortunately dogs in China as regarded as meat on for legs. They are often skinned alive to preserve flavour. It wouldn't be so bad if they were killed humanely.
I suppose the Irish "experts" will help them improve on their treatment of animals,...by teaching them how to blood dogs by feeding them live cats and rabbits like they do on some of our own tracks?

Jump To Comment: 1 2 3I'm a big fan of greyhoudn racing but I would never back the SICK cruelty of hare coursing and as for this China deal I think anyone who goes along with it has no respect for the welfare of the greyhound, the animal that has given so much entertainment to race-goers. I have a retired greyhound and I wouldn't want her to end up in a curry!
And by the way lots of other greyhound ownersd and trainers feel the same as you'll see from the debaate on the Greyhound Knowledge Forum (http://www.greyhound-data.com/knowledge.php?b=4¬e=69...7929?
Not all greyhound owners support tossing cats and rabbits to greyhound before a race or any of that hare coursing cruelty!
....beyond belief. Someone is actually claiming they can look after greyhounds welfare...IN CHINA?!?!
the record of China in animal and human welfare is deplorable.
I can say no more till I research this....please, please please anyone serious about greyhound welfare stand nagainst this.
Whatever about China's animal welfare laws, I'd be doubtful about trusting Irish "doggie industry " officials to enforce protection of greyhiounds in China. ..
