Cork strikes back for Honesty and Truth
Electoral Honesty Commission takes issue with Green Party's Dan Boyle
Dan Boyle, the financial spokesperson for the Green Party, is running in this general election on the platform: ‘Dan Boyle – Honest And True’. But whatever about the veracity of this claim and, let’s face it, politicians are well known for their exaggerations, there appears to be a clear loss of memory by Dan when it comes to owning up to his famous ‘achievements’. Like, for example, bringing the IMF in. Or, like cutting the dole. Or, like consigning a generation of Irish people to a future of emigration.
Dan’s website at www.danboyle.ie is worth a very brief examination if you are in any way demented by a sense of injustice (as we are here at the EHC). On it, you’ll find no mention of Dan’s sterling work to impoverish the poor of Irish society. Neither does Dan own up to the Greens’ ‘Tax the Needy To Feed the Greedy’ policy. On the contrary, in fact. On his site Dan lists his highpoints as: “He has published bills on the Reform of Public Appointments, Ethical Investment, Reform of the Presidential Office and the criteria for running for elections.” Like Dan, for flip sake! Come on now!
Another strange thing about Dan’s website. Go to Current Issues 2010. What will you see there ARE no entries at all for that year, only 2009! (Got a few calender problems there we think!) Anyway no entries says it all, we suppose. But does it? Here at the EHC we cannot understand why Dan has made no mention of his role in bringing the IMF to Ireland OR in signing the entire country up to a cast iron deal that means poverty for so many but not the rich in this society. That did happen in 2010, right? Let’s be honest and true now. Come on now Dan!
But anyway, to the photos. Corkonians have had enough. We can’t have one of our own carrying on like that, now. These amended posters were observed in Cork in the last few days. Truth will out as they say.
