The John Mitchel Cumann of Republican Sinn Féin in County Derry has issued a statement dissociating themselves from remarks made at the annual County Derry Easter Commemoration in Derry City on Easter Sunday.
A spokesman said that the John Mitchel Cumann did not dispute the Derry Journal's reportage of the oration. However it was not the view of the Cumann that members of the organisation commonly referred to as the “Real IRA” were traitors.
“We were unaware that such remarks would be made at the Easter Commemoration. It has never been our policy to censor orations prior to delivery.”
