European Commission acts on complaint by Irish woman.
The Irish Government has been forced to amend its Lottery and Gaming Act, which banned Irish citizens from buying prize bond-type investments in other EU countries. The complainant did so on the basis that the schemes, such as Britain's premium bonds, are a form of State-guaranteed savings in which money is invested and not gambled. The Irish Government will amend the legislation this month.
