Fair play after all this time for those keeping vigil at these important sites - you will be remembered as the ones who really cared and did whatever you could - still can. I see its been on the national and radio news broadcast by the reporter as confirming EU's concern and opposition to the matter - you would think that they would think twice now that the whole entire public knows that authority higher than the government are against it - still - it keeps going, and the henge is being ready to be dismantled. 'Recording' it for future reference just isnt goint to suffice - or any important historical site for that matter - thousands upon thousands of people especially children are now going to miss out on massive amounts of heritage and education because they won't be able to experience it for themselves - tarmac and road is hardly a replacement. But sure, its obvious most of Ireland doesnt give a rat's hole about it - it seems probably that greed, and brown envelopes in politician's back pockets have easily replaced this.

What role models are we as a society.

What sort of cajoling does it take to stir the many to stand along side The Few - seems to be your question?

To be honest it is when they realise that their families graves of 'the cherished newly dead' are as much at risk as are those of the ancient dead.

By then it will be too late!

Unless of course its the 16million Mr Ahern is splashing on his pet project up at Glasnevin,
funny that the ideals that modern Irish Egalitarians had fought for being used to further
a global agenda where a large section of ordinary irish people cannot make ends meet and
the rest, well with the tax breaks and lipo-suction you would wonder where they came from.
Bertie Ahern presided over the government which threatened our Irish multi-cultural heritage
whilst selling his ass to the US war Machine. I think we should be telling future generations of
Irish kids about the deeply amoral and irresponsible leadership of FF and the fat buddah ahern
who presided over it all.

Indeed, Ancient Observer, this was the very question I asked of the authorities more than a year ago, "How would you feel if your most recently deceased ancestors grave was plowed through". Recent or ancient, our ancestors graves are to be honored, not simply noted for posterities sake and then destroyed. By the way, I never received an answer to my question.
