National Public Meeting to organise campaign of opposition: This Saturday, April 1st, Red Cow Hotel, Naas Rd. Dublin, 11 AM - 1 PM
Over the past six months, we have raised in the Dail the issue of Management Companies being foisted on new householders in housing estates.
This is a device to save developers a fortune by allowing them to burden those who buy houses from them with the extra cost of maintaining services in the new estates. Traditionally, the developers themselves were liable for the cost of maintaining these services until the estate was handed over to the Local Authority.
Management Companies in housing estates mean a privatisation of services such as maintenance of roads, footpaths, sewers, open spaces, public lighting and public liability insurance, and a new local tax on householders to pay for these services, which are provided elsewhere from general taxation.
We are calling this public meeting in the Red Cow Hotel this Saturday to allow residents affected by management Companies to have their say and to organise a campaign of opposition.
We warn the Government parties and all those parties vying to be in Government after the next General Election that this will be a vital issue in a number of key constituencies.
