In October 2005, the National Forum On Europe invited submissions from members of the public and organisations on the issues facing the European Union and Ireland into the future. A wide variety of submissions was received from individuals and organisations across the island of Ireland.
A selection of the submissions will be presented orally at a special session of the National Forum On Europe this Thursday, March 23rd. The organisations include the Community Foundation for Ireland, the Irish Business and Employers' Confederation, Concern, the Church of Ireland, Young Fine Gael, the Alliance Party of Northern Ireland and the European Movement, Ireland. In addition, the views expressed at National Youth Fora, held in Dublin Castle in November 2005 and UCC in March 2006, will also be presented by young delegates selected at both events. The submissions presented on the day, along with a selection of other submissions received, will be shortly available on this website.
The National Forum On Europe is a public forum consisting of political representatives and civil society organisations, including the Social Partners. Independently chaired by Senator Maurice Hayes, the Forum provides a public arena for democratic engagement on issues relating to the European Union and Ireland's role within it. The Forum does not advocate any particular policy or course of action.
