Public Meeting

Saturday March 4th @ 11am in the Teachers Club, Parnell square, Dublin 1.

Alternatives to Neoliberalism

Following on from the success of last months conference (http://www.freewebs.com/alternativestoneoliberalism/) the campaign is having a public meeting this Saturday, March 4th, at 11am in the Teachers Club on Parnell Square, Dublin 1.

Social concerns, solidarity, democracy & accountability need to be the central demands coming from the left over the next period. There are many aspects of the Services Directive, as amended & agreed last month at the EU Parliaments 1st reading, which should be of concern to those who value workers rights & public services. County of Origin has been replaced with ‘freedom to provide services’ & the privatisation of public services such as water are included in the Directive.

The EU Constitution should be a dead deal after the French & Dutch No votes. Ratification of the Constitution is dependant on ALL countries signing up. Yet Belgium is in the process of ratifying the Constitution with Estonia & Finland expected to follow. The EU Constitution Committee is travelling to Finland next week to encourage the Finnish Parliament to proceed with ratification. This cynical manipulation of democracy should not go unchallenged.

Come along to the meeting; see how you can get involved in the campaign; all contributions to the discussion & suggestions as to how we can best fight for Alternatives to Neoliberalism will be very welcome.
