Essay Competition
"Were you ever out in the great alone when the moon shone awful clear
And the icy mountains hemmed you in with a silence you `most could hear
With only the cry of the timber wolf and you camped out there in the cold
- A half dead thing in a half starved world clean mad for that muck called gold?"

Cooley Environmental and Health Group wishes to announce an open competition for the best essay on the topic "Isolation." Mr Norbert ("Nobbie") Quinn, "Wyndsway," Jenkinstown, has generously offered to sponsor a prize of €100 for the best entry. All entries should be received before 18 January 2006.
Entries may be sent by e-mail to sean@cooleyehg.com or by post to Sean Crudden and should specify the author’s age and contact details. Entries in audio format (for those with difficulty in writing or for those who may wish to set their entry to music) are more than welcome. As far as possible entries should be in Irish or English.
Judgement of the entries will be weighted in such a way that, for example, a short, simple entry by a child may score more highly than a long, complex entry from an adult. The decision of the adjudicators shall be final.
In general terms writing based on personal experience will be valued more highly than material culled from textbooks or stuff copied off the internet. Quality will be favoured rather than quantity.
