Seven Dáil Deputies are to visit the five residents of Rossport, Co. Mayo who have been in prison for more than two months now in protest at the Shell Corporation’s plans to bring raw gas through their community. This will take place at 9.45 AM tomorrow morning, Wednesday 31st August.
The visit is to express extreme concern at the length of time the men have been in jail and to highlight the need for urgent action from the Government to secure their release and to resolve the issues which forced them to take this stand for their families and community.
The seven Deputies are, Independents: Gerry Cowley, Tony Gregory, Marian Harkin, Seamus Healy, Finian McGrath and Catherine Murphy and Socialist Party T.D. Joe Higgins.
