RELEASED: Italian & U.S. govt documents on seizure of Indymedia server in London last October.

Remember the confusion and shut-downs last October? Well some light has been shed courtesy of EFF

Last October all people knew was that the FBI had physically seized an Indymedia server from a company called Rackspace in London. About 20 Indymedias were affected, some more than others. Rackspace said they had a gagging order placed on them. UK and US security forces refused to comment.

On August 1st this year, thanks to a court case they took in a federal court in Texas, the US-based Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) received newly unsealed documents relating to the seizures. Despite this, some serious questions remain. No mention of a gagging order for example.

Maybe people involved with the teck-end (and related publicity) of getting the sites back up last October would like to comment here and say whether any of these documents have any real usefulness. [Have to confess I didn't read them in detail - so this post is more of a low-on-details-newsflash than news-analysis.]
