Cork Greenmap have a walk organised this Sunday to celebrate the green spaces of Cork.

Join us for another stroll through the green spaces of Cork. And on the way we’ll visit the ruins of a castle and a disused quarry.

Next Sunday, our walk takes us through the Ballinlough/Blackrock area.

This is primarily a walk (about 4 miles), but there will also be a bit of local history thrown in. Special guest Richard Henchion (author of recently published 'East to Mahon: The Story of Blackrock, Ballintemple, Ballinlough, Ballinure and Mahon') will speak very briefly about the ruins of Dundanion castle (built 1554) and will be available for other historical insights en route.

The walk will take up to 3 hours, and end with a picnic in Beaumont Quarry (please bring food), finally returning to the Silver Key pub.

Quarry and castle walk next Sunday 24th July 2005
