A very sucessful press conference was held recently to help the nation understand the Erris and Rossport issue in Mayo.

.A number of Rossport Landowners and campaign leaders met the Press in the Earl of Kildare, Dawson St., Dublin last Monday morning. There was an impressive turnout and several newspapers and other media carried the story during the week.
RTEI is conspicious in its sparse coverage on what should be material for a Prime Time investigation of national interest. Several phone calls have been made to remind it of its responsibility in this regard.
Joe Higgins TD of the Socialist Party was present throughout and invited the 14 visitors from Mayo to a Dail lunch, a far cry of their five experiences at the High Court coutesy of Shell.
From lunch to deliver a letter to the Shell Offices, 52 Lw. Leeson St. and to have a photo shoot for the interested media who were kind enough to wait . On the way back the group visited an office of the Marine...and sat-in there for two hous.
Kieran Allen of the SWP chaired an energetic meeting in Wynn's Hotel for over 100 people.
Erris people explained all over again issues of national concern. Some journalists were also in attendance.
At the end of a long day some of the people started a long journey back to Erris to arrive home around 5am the next morning.
