Launch and exhibition of City of Children, a book of photographs of
Brazilian children by Brazilian photographer Elis Taves.
Elis Taves, a Brazilian photographer currently based in Ireland, presents an
exhibition and accompanying book of her unique black and white images of
Brazilian children. The images were all taken at the 'City of Children' - a
centre run by the Brazilian Society of St. Vincent de Paul offering support
to around five thousand needy children from the State of Minas Gerais in
Belo Horizonte, the fourth largest city in Brazil and Elis' home town.
The images have been printed on vinyl and mounted onto perspex by MCGOWANS
with the support of sponsor WESTERN UNION and they will be exhibited at the
Launch of 'City of Children' at
Oscar Wilde House, The American College, Merrion Square on Tuesday 14th June
at 6.00pm
The exhibition will be open to the public from 15th-23rd June 2005 from
10am-4pm Monday-Friday.
This exhibition and publication is possible thanks to the generous support
of the BRAZILIAN EMBASSY, AMERICAN COLLEGE and WESTERN UNION in Ireland and
VARIG LOG and O LUTADOR in Brazil.
