GAMA Auditors Resign

category dublin | anti-capitalism | news report author Thursday May 26, 2005 14:47author by Deirdre Clancy - Concerned Citizen

PriceWaterhousecoopers have resigned as GAMA auditors, citing their lack of cooperation in providing payroll information as the reason.

What amazes me is the way in which the mainstream media, and of course the government, are still giving GAMA the benefit of the doubt. Even PricewaterhouseCoopers find them dodgy. The best, it seems, that the government can offer in terms of resolving the issue are childish remarks referring to Turks as 'kebabs' and spurious accusations about Joe Higgins' 'extreme left' politics. All the while, GAMA are providing stiff competition in the annals of Irish history for William Martin Murphy.

PricewaterhouseCoopers, one of the most prestigious accountancy firms in Ireland, has resigned as accountants to GAMA Construction Ireland. PricewaterhouseCoopers cites insufficient information in response to queries about Turkish workers’ wages.

However, PricewaterhouseCoopers owes us a much more lengthy explanation. Precisely what questions did it pose to GAMA, which were not answered and why?

PricewaterhouseCoopers should also explain why it whitewashed GAMA in 1993 after an alleged investigation into pay rates on its construction sites. GAMA management quoted that endorsement freely to rebut questions about alleged exploitation of its Turkish workers.

Murray PR Consultants

Considering how GAMA or related companies have been burning off professional individuals or bodies who it previously sent out to defend the company, the question must be asked for how long more Murray PR Consultants can continue to parrot this company’s hollow alibis.
