Laura Bush, the US First Lady, was at Shannon in the last few hours. Why was this not picked up on earlier to organize a protest? The government should inform the people in advance when US regime figures are en route.
The news reports were even filled from Shannon.

IAWM never made Shannon a priority during the height of the air war. That priority wasn't established then. Shannon has been left to a couple of unresourced diehards and the Catholic Workers banned from the area.
I know bertie and I'll tell him to give ye a ring when hes next expecting visitors, its awful unfair not being told, I though Ed Horgan knew everything - pass on his mobile as well
...as they're always counterproductive. The Irish public are sick of these rent-a-crowd demos. Now we have people having a problem with George's wife. You would do well to read Alexander Cockburn's comments about the left in this regard:
"...Laura Bush gives this great comedy routine where she makes fun of George Bush, Dick Cheney and her horrible mother-in-law and all these liberal wusses like David Corn in The Nation all say it was very shocking, and they wouldn't want to tell children what she said. If you want one single portrait of the utter decay of the liberal progressive so-called left, it's that they can't even laugh happily when Laura Bush makes a few jokes. They churn up inside and say that she was perhaps indecent. And now they're organizing a letter-writing campaign about her raunchy language."
"They're not being ironic?"
"No, they're not! This is what the left has come to. It's sickening."
Well, "Galloway Troll" first off - why do you ask "why this was not picked up on earlier?"
Did I miss a meeting?
Are you paying someone to monitor this for you?
Laura Bush may be George's wife, and her choreographed bad jokes are part of a PR plan to make ol' George look more like 'one of the guys' ... look at me, I bomb lots of countries, have nuclear weapons, but I still get nagged by my wife...
Apart from killing her ex-boyfried (by running him over) and marrying a murderer, she's small fry. It's not like they managed to sneak something huge past us all.
"The news reports were even filled (filed) from Shannon."
That doesn't mean that the journos were AT Shannon.
RTE journos sitting at a desk in Limerick have repeatedly filed stories as if they were an eyewitness at Shannon, when, more oftern than not they're writing a report based on what the Garda Press office or some local middle ranking Garda told them.
.
He's complaining about the numbnuts in the Democrats and the Greens that won't oppose the illegal invasion and occupation of Iraq and spend their time wringing their hands over George Bush being stupid and Laura Bush being crass. (He may also want to spend the night with Laura covered in whipped cream and Anne Coulter in matching raspberry jam, but that's irrelevant to his central argument).
Well with a history of bundling those who jumped ship from the USSR at Shannon Airport in the '80's back on to the Russian planes to face the music at home....what would one expect from a Shannon resident considering 3 more deaths of people who past through your duty free. Shake them down for the last pint, slap the cannon fodder on the back and send them off to kill and be killed.
Shannon rsident helps us understand how those at Auscwhitz could hear the church bells from the local village and not expect help.
Shannon resident the issue at a pace of 30,000 troops a month is passing by your door step. Just have another pint and we'll wake you when your over.
Link to the latest casualties who took route Irish through Shannon's duty free.

You are over reacting.
The fact that Laura Bush came through Shannon Airport and there was no protest is a non issue. Simple. The author of this piece seems to be an idiot.
However the protest in Israel was very effective by being picked up by the worlds mainstream media.
Please note, before your next over reaction, that I am not saying that asylum seekers were not bundled back on to Russian plane's but you don't offer any proof and this amounts to heresay.
Do yourself proud and write something about this here and back your argument with a credible source. There is alot of people who read this thread that would appreciate a good report on this topic.
Its no very wise too compare Shannon Airport to Auscwhitz because it takes from the memory of what happened there and will eventually erode the power of words like "Holocaust, Death Camps, Nazi,.......''.
The young men and women that come through Shannon do not have anything in common with ''those at Auscwhitz'' and it is very wrong for you too use their memory for your little pissing contest.
Please let me remind you that there is plenty of Shannon residents commited to stopping Shannon Airport being used by the U.S. military machine.
I am one of many.
If you spent any time at the Peace Camp you would have met alot of residents who were opposed to the war and were delighted that there was a focus at Shannon Airport in the form of the camp. There was also alot of residents angry with us for setting up the camp for a multiude of reasons ranging from a fear of losing there job at the airport ( not an unrealistic notion for 500 hundred people) to having blindly consummed the propaganda set out by the various governments involved in the illegal war in Iraq. That includes Bertie and Co. Personally, I cant blame them, looking back to the bullshit that was pumped into there sitting rooms since 9/11.
Kind regards and i'm looking forward to meeting you sometime soon at Shannon.
