category international | anti-war / imperialism | news report author Tuesday March 22, 2005 19:38author by Niall Harnett - Gluaiseacht

Money raised goes towards accommodating and feeding the 50 European activists coming to Ireland for the EYFA-European Youth For Action Wintermeeting and Gluaiseacht Anti-War Meeting taking place at the Boghill Centre, Kilfenore, Co Clare from 2-10 April. See http://www.eyfa.org for more details, check out events calendar or click on story link below.

Thanks to Mark O'Connor and Nancy Serrano, EUR1000 was raised at the EYFA/Gluaiseacht Anti-War Meeting Fundraiser Gig organised by Mark at the Highstool Bar, Limerick last Saturday night 19th April.

Special thanks to Mark for taking on a lot of hard work organising the venue and mobilising 4 bands, doing their sound, publicising the event, creating an inspirational flyer which is essential reading for all you ... "Gluaiseacht birdies who land in passing on or near the Gluaiseacht tree. All are welcome in and around the Gluaiseacht tree to rest, to stay, to eat or to move on carrying seed to plant elsewhere".

Watch this space for publishing of 'Gluaiseacht tree' flyer.

It's a testimony to you Mark the goodwill you generate among your friends and musicians who are happy to play for you and turn up in droves for you to support the gig. And at the Highstool Bar too, that they were happy to throw in for you an extra 200 euros from bar takings on top of the 800 euros taken at the door. Fantastic.

Thanks to all at the Highstool Bar, Limerick.

And to the 4 bands who generously played for free.......

....we say THANK YOU for the music.

Mark and Nancy have lovely taste in music and play a wide range of stuff ranging from a lovely Mexican love song sung in Spanish by Nancy, learned from her father as a child, to their own songs rocky and choppy, lovely guitar Mark accompanied with some lovely touches on drums by Shane Serrano, to Beatles 'Across the Universe' and Michael Jackson's 'Man in the mirror'.

Sounds of laughter, shades of love are ringing through my opened ears
Inciting and inviting me.
Limitless undying love, which shines around me like a million suns,
And calls me on and on across the universe.
.....................................................................

I'n starting with the man in the mirror
I'm asking him to change his ways
If you wanna make the world a better place
Take a look at yourself and make a change.
