Around 500 people took part in an anti-bin tax march in Dublin on Saturday. This was a good turn out given the state of the campaign but unfortunately fell a little short of the "reminescent of the 1980's tax march' DCTU quote that the Irish Times had run with that morning. (There were around 100,000 on the tax march).
Speakers pointed out that waivers were being abolished elsewhere in the country and that in Dublin the bin tax had already reached the level of a weeks wages for many earning at or near the minimum wage.
