Saalam Bombay (Friday 17th: 8pm)

The story of Krishna, a 10 year old boy who comes to live in Bombay dreaming of making 500 rupees to take home to his mother in the village. In the city he is surrounded by madness and chaos. Policemen, madmen, middlemen, traders in drugs and flesh, impossible movie fantasies, and everywhere there are children like him, surviving and succumbing to the appetite of the city. The ‘actors’ are all street children and the entire film is shot in poor neighborhoods and the red light district of Mumbai (Bombay). The spirit of Mumbai’s street children is celebrated while describing the denial of childhood in a world, which is no longer innocent.
