FALLUJAH – An eye-witness report
Since George Bush launched his bloody invasion of Iraq up to 100,000 innocent Iraq’s have died. Iraqi society has been devastated. Millions are without clean water, power, or access to a proper health service. Disease, poverty and unemployment are at epidemic proportions.
Bush and Blair used lies about weapons of mass destruction to justify this carnage. Now that lie has been exposed, the new lie used to justify the occupation of Iraq is the claim they are fighting a ‘war on terrorism’.
The Iraqi city of Fallujah has borne the brunt of the second US war in Iraq. The US launched several massive military assaults on the city over the last year. The city has been blasted by tanks, missiles and bombs. Thousands of Fallujans have been killed and injured. The city has now been flattened. The US says they were liberating the city from terrorists and supporters of Saddam Hussein. The people of Fallujah tell a very different story.
Dr Ismael Khan is from Fallujah and has worked as a medical doctor there for the last year. During the war he was chief of Junior Doctors in Baghdad, dealing with the devastating human carnage that resulted from the US invasion.
Ismael Khan will give an eye-witness account of the US invasion last year and the bloody assaults on Fallujah this year, from a doctor’s point of view. He will also show a documentary film and slide show to give a visual account of the US siege of Fallujah in April this year.
Independent journalist Lee Gordon who was also working in Fallujah over the last year will accompany Ismael. It is vital the world knows the truth about the war and occupation of Iraq and the human reality behind the propaganda that justified this bloody war.
