Prisoner benefit in dublin on Saturday Dec 4th
There is a benefit gig on this Saturday, December 4th in the Long Bar, Dalymount Park, Phibsboro, the bar in the Football Stadium.
The benefit is for American Jim who is now serving a 4 year term in England following his deportation from Ireland as a result of events which occured on a London Mayday march. We hope the money raised will help make his life inside a bit easier.
For a bit of fun the optional theme for the night is a mock debs night so if you feel like dressing up dig out those charity shop dresses and seventies snoker suits.
Bands playing are Los Langeros from Cork who play hillybilly country punk and Based on Reason from Wicklow who play pacy hardcore. There will also be DJS playing ska, punk etc .
It starts at 9 and admission is 4 euro if your dressed up Debs style and a fiver if your not.
A chance perhaps for all those bemoaning the lack of prisoner support to come out of a saturday night.

Jump To Comment: 1Hi there, the event sounds like a good time, hope you have a nice turn-out. I'm interested in some backround on the matter and why this guy is serving so long. Is he actually "American" or is that just a nickname? If so, why was deported to England? What did he do, or I should say, what are the authorities claiming he did, particularly given the extremely lengthy sentence? I was just curious mabye someone could direct me to a past story or something. Wouldn't want to speculate given the little info I have but 4 years for the Mayday March?!! Either he's real bad or there's a really bad miscarriage of justice. (I of course presume the later)
