American Embassy from 5pm on Thursday Nov 4th
Whilst Bush may have been re elected today the message of the global anti war movement remains the same, we want the troops out of Iraq NOW.
United for Peace & Justice, the primary US anti war movement with over 800 affiliates and the UKs Stop the War Coalition have both recently launched campaigns to bring the troops home. Here in Ireland the Irish Anti War Movement has launched a nationwide campaign demanding US Military out of Shannon.
The resistance throughout Iraq against the occupation continues to grow as the US air strikes, during the holy month of Ramadan, increase in their severity, air strikes designed to minimise causalities amongst the troops but to maximise Iraqi causalities on the ground. Late last week a report was released stating the death toll of Iraqi citizens since the occupation began in 2003 is now at 100,000. This figure far exceeds our worst nightmares.
But there is no time for hand wringing and despair here at home. We must work hard to show our solidarity with the Iraqi people by working hard on the ground to end the use of Shannon Airport by US Military. We need to make sure Ahern & Cullen know we don't want Bush's blood money. We don't want his war.
The Irish Anti War Movement is rallying at the American Embassy on Thursday to make our message clear. We want the troops out of Iraq & Shannon NOW.
