Cork Anti-War Campaign is to hold a vigil at Daunt's Square in the city this Saturday (9th Oct) at 2.30pm in protest at the killing of more than 80 Palestinians in Gaza by Israeli Defence Forces this week.
Cork Anti-War Campaign is to hold a vigil in the city centre this Saturday (9th October) in protest at the latest Israeli attacks on civilians in Gaza which have left more than 80 people dead in the past week, many of them young children.
CAWC has said that the Israeli attacks are in breach of international law and have been totally indiscriminate, killing innocent civilians, destroying homes, schools, workplaces and community centres and creating misery and suffering on a mass scale.
“Cork Anti-War Campaign are organising this vigil in Daunt’s Square this Saturday afternoon at 2.30pm so that the people of Cork can express their outrage at the actions of the Israeli Security Forces. We condemn all terrorism and oppose war because it kills predominantly civilians and destroys communities and the people hit by it for generations”.
“We believe the decision of the United States to block the latest United Nations resolution on the situation in Gaza is hypocritical of a country that talks of a war on terror. What the Israeli state is doing in Palestine is terror defined and should be opposed by all peace-loving people. We call on the Irish government and the new Minister for Foreign Affairs Dermot Ahern to use whatever pressure can be applied, both through the UN and the European Union to demand an end to the slaughter of the Palestinian People”.
The Cork Anti-War Campaign’s Vigil in Solidarity with Palestine takes place in Daunts Square on Saturday, 9th October at 2.30pm.
