To raise money for SESF delegation going to ESF

SOUTH EAST SOCIAL FORUM TO HOLD ‘ANOTHER WORLD IS POSSIBLE’ GIG
The South East Social Forum are to hold an ‘Another World is Possible’ fund raising gig upstairs in Phil Grimes, Johnstown on Saturday 9th October at 9.00pm. Acts at the gig include the Wayfaring Strangers and guests. Admission is just €2.00.
All proceeds from the gig will go to the delegation from the south-east travelling to the European Social Forum which will take place in London on October 14th – 17th. The ESF is the biggest political gathering which will take place in Europe in 2004, with over 50,000 delegates from across the world descending on London. Hundreds of activists from all over Ireland will be attending, including a delegation from the South East Social Forum. The SESF delegation includes trade unionists, political activists and environmental campaigners.
The ESF is a giant gathering for everyone opposed to war, racism and corporate power, everyone who wants to see global justice, workers' rights and a sustainable society. It is a chance for people from around the world to come together to engage in debate, organise action and build networks to strengthen our movement.
Issues that will be addressed at the ESF include; war and peace, democracy and fundamental rights, social justice and solidarity: against privatisation (deregulation), for workers, social and women’s rights , corporate globalisation and global justice, against racism, discrimination and the far right: for equality and diversity, the environmental crisis and sustainable society.

Details: Workshop will look at government’s attempts to force incineration on local communities and the gradual privatisation of waste management, beginning with the bin charges being imposed by local authorities.
