Boomerang teams up with Shade Interactive (The Netherlands) and Theater der Jugend (Austria) to present this new play by Gerald Bauer. Originally banned in his native South Africa, Athol Fugard's semi-autobiographical classic is a funny and powerful expose of the impact of apartheid. Two middle-aged black waiters try to find time to practice their ballroom dancing, while Master Harold finishes homework. What starts off as a fun filled afternoon quickly descends into cruelty and heartbreak as they receive news of Master Harold's drunken father's unexpected homecoming.

1+1=1 or how to avoid war

A sound/visual artist and a clown interact on stage to create a common area in which to live. They attempt to prove that it is possible to bring conflicting ideas onto one stage and still collaborate together to create a new shared environment that actually expands on each of their imagined physical spaces or something like that.

Previous successful collaborations include Mrs Cherry-Loola's Last Chance at last year's Fringe.

Following the success of The Hypothetical Death of an Activist, Spacecraft have plumbed the depths to come up with another heady infusion of social satire and radical politics, taking the notion of toilet humour to an entirely new level.

This show charts the desperate and hilarious attempts by "Bean" to secure the deal of a lifetime, thereby putting an end to his self-inflicted woes. Read a preview of the play and it's context.

PASSPORT
Teatro San Martin de Caracas / PASSPORT / Venezuela Tue 28 Sept 26 Sat 2 Oct / 9.00pm / 90 mins / Focus Theatre Matinees: Sat 2 + Sun 3 Oct / 12.00pm Tickets: Concession e10 Full Price: e12

This is the story of Eugenia, a long-time traveller, set down in an unknown station. Losing her passport, she finds herself in a tense spiral of miscommunication and misunderstanding. As she tries to communicate with local officials, her situation closely mirrors our global images from Venezuela's National Guard to AbuGhraib prison. Questioning personal identity and freedom, the play circles the double mystery of exactly who and where Eugenia is.
In Spanish with subtitles.

El Silencio
Cali Teatro / El Silencio / Colombia Tue 5 Oct 26 Sat 9 Oct / 6.30pm / 60 mins / The New Theatre Matinees: Sat 9 Oct + Sun 10 Oct / 4.00pm Tickets: Concession e10 Full Price e12

Theatre within theatre. Two stories juxtaposed: in one, actors wait for their director; in the other, the play. In and out of 'Silence' there is violence - social and political - which everyone must avoid. A moving reflection on war's absurdities and our indifferent attitudes towards others' pain and fear. From a nation torn apart by conflict since its foundation, this is a work of political theatre far beyond dogma or ideology.
In Spanish with subtitles.
