The 'socialist forum' is another word for SWP public meetings.

The SWP hold public meetings under the title "Socialist Forum" but so do Socialist Democracy.

If I guess right, this is actually a meeting of the Socialist Democracy run Socialist Forum. Socialist Democracy are a very small organisation of left wing republicans, once found in small pockets around the country but now confined to one colony in Belfast.

One of them once told me, in no uncertain terms, that he wasn't a 'Republican'. Maybe some of the others are though.

"Socialist Democracy " is the Irish franchise of the USFI. In Brazil this group are in governemnt implemetning IMF dictats in Lula's sell out government. Does the Irish 'Socialist Democracy' support this participation of their memebrs in a pro capitailst government

Socialist Democracy do not support the participation of their Brazilian equivalents in the government there. Their website is full of stuff attacking the Brazilians for it.

The swp organise a Marxist forum open only to themselves. SD run a Socialist Forum that is open to anyone.

It is an anti imperialist organisation not a republican organisation. Republicanism is not a class based political philosophy it a cross class philosophy.

"Republicanism is not a class based political philosophy it a cross class philosophy."

But it can be a particularly potent cocktail when mixed with socialism!
Unlike trying to mix it with respect for loyalty to a monarch. A pretty foul tasting concoction

Republicanism & Socialism, the far left in Ireland is not quite the same as other countries. Ours is approved by the Catholic Church Political Office. So its pretty mild indeed.

all that trotzkite mouthwash ... just wait till those buckfast and stout -fueled republican socialists discover anarchist redbull served with a short of property destruction, neat, then we'll get the 'party' rockin'!
