Israeli peace activist to address Galway meeting on Palestine.

Jeff Halper of the Israeli Committee Against House Demolitions will
speak at a public meeting in the Imperial Hotel, Eyre Square, Galway
this Thursday (17 June) starting at 8pm, on the situation in the Middle
East. The meeting is being organised by Amnesty International and
admission is free.

Jeff Halper is the Director of the Israeli Committee Against House
Demolitions. This organisation is a non-violent direct action group
opposing and resisting the Israeli demolition of Palestinian houses in
the Occupied Territories.

Speaking before the Galway meeting, Mr Halper said, “As Israelis, we
believe that the only chance for a genuine peace is one that enables the
Palestinians to establish what we have, a viable and truly sovereign
state of their own. A just peace will also provide all the peoples of
our region with the security, dignity, freedom and economic
opportunities they deserve. The future may witness the emergence of a
regional confederation enhancing the viability of each of our societies
to cope with a global reality.”

All are welcome to attend Thursday’s meeting in the Imperial Hotel, (Near Spermacs, Eyre Square) Galway.
