CONGOLESE IRISH PARTNERSHIP CALL MARCH IN DUBLIN

The Congolese Irish Partnership (CIP), an Irish organisation in charge of assisting Congolese people and providing information on Democratic Republic of the Congo, DRC, expresses its deep concern about the preparation of the Rwandan regular army to attack the DRC.

To oppose this third aggression, the CIP is going to organize a protest march on Saturday, 22 May 2004 in Dublin, at 2.00pm. The march will begin from the Garden of Remembrance, near Parnell Square to Government Buildings, Taoiseach's Department at Merrion Square.

I have just arrived back to Ireland after a year overseas in Australia, and the change I see is so positive.Everywhere, people are ready to make a stand against the warmongers of our so called democratic and free world.People are standing up and being heard, realising the power we possess to make some positive change in the world around us.I can't wait to get involved. The censorship I saw in Australia shocked me when I arrived back on Irish soil, and realised how unaware I was of what was going on globally. It is our right to be told the truth, and this is what we need to demand.

I would suggest that it's disinterest in anything happening in the world outside is the problem here in Ireland and its hq. Great Britain.

It is the tiny minority viewed news station owned and managed by Mr Murdoch primarily for British people (and 1.3% of Irish people) that decides the news agenda for the Irish public service broadcaster and the private news services here....
It is a priority also that if a hard foreign news story is handled it HAS TO BE sympathetic to the English speaking world, perhaps an old British colony etc.
Ignore anything happening in a former (or present) French, Belgian, Spanish colony because they speak weird languages not the Queen's language.

And what is stunning and amazing is the total lack of interest among student journalists in acquiring profiiency in another Union language while in D.I.T. or D.C.U. or other college. It is too late to discover the handicap on suddenly realising that every non mother tongue Anglophone journalist ALREADY speaks at least ONE other language while the Mr Birds from Ireland barely speak English and frequently confuse the simple past tense....

Of course, we all know the famous European politician who continues to fill his cv (and Phoenix) with things that 'I done' , 'I seen' and of course 'if I had of heard his name den I knowd him' ( reference to a world leader)
(quotes from his recent visit to Moscow).
