Big Boy Bertie deciced to deilght us with his presence today at ucg opening of a new laboratory

Bertie Ahern arrived at Galway university this morning to officially open a new science laboratory. As usual there were a significant amount of gardai and special branch covering all entrances to the Arts Millenuim building which Bertie was arriving at. About 15-20 protestors gathered at the building some of which were global womens strike, galway grassroots, defence against free speech, Anti- racist referendum (sorry if have left anyone out folks). He remained in the buliding about 45 minutes and made a quick getaway with a few media heads looking on. The protest attracted attention from university students who came to see what the noise was about and stood around for a look. It was a relatively successful protest given that most of the people attending were either busy preparing for mayday or students with encroaching exams. Apologies for the delay in writing it up.
