Peaceful Carnival and March against racism, war and corporate greed planned for May Day

Another Europe is Possible (a broad alliance of different political parties, trade unionists, community activists and campaigns) is organising a colourful peaceful carnival that will begin at Central Bank, Dame St. Dublin at Mid-day on May 1st and march to Phoenix park where there will be music.

The event itself will be a family-oriented event centred on the themes of opposition to war, racism and privatization. It will begin at the central bank where there will be some speakers such as Susan George, the internationally reknowned debt and global justice campaigner (also vice-president of ATTAC, France). Then we will march in a parade of colour and festivity to the Phoenix Park where there will be a Carnival of music from bands such as King Sativa, Gospel Choirs and many more.

May Day is traditionally workers day and we are calling on everyone who is concerned with that involvement of our government in the war on Iraq, the privatization of public services and the rise of racism especially of the proposed referendum to join us on May 1st to highlight that people should come before profit and war”

The government is calling it a day of welcomes yet they are deporting families and children from Ireland. We will be having a Carnival of real welcome for immigrants from all over the world,

They are trying to use the threat of violence on May Day to intimidate people from coming out on the streets because the government does not want large protests against them in the run up to local elections”

Groups involved in Another Europe is Possible include- the NGO Peace Alliance, the Irish Anti-War Movement and the Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign, Sinn Fein, the Workers Party, Socialist Workers Party, Socialist Party, Community Workers, and has the support of Patricia McKenna and trade unionists such as Barry Nevin (SIPTU Aviation Branch), Mick O Rielly (ATGWU), Brendan Ogle (ILDA), Pat Cahill (ASTI), and Andy Mcguiness (SIPTU)

Led by the failed Student Union Beaurocrat Hearn. They are out to sabotage any real activity on the day.

Down with SWP Fronts!
