A demonstration will be held outside the department of Taoiseach, Merrion Square on Monday 23rd Feb 2004 between 12 - 2 pm to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the deportation of the entire Chechen nation to Siberia on the orders of Stalin. The protest will highlight the massive human rights violations being perpetrated by Russian occupation forces in Chechnya, under the cover of 'the war on terror'.

Oliver Dupuis , an MEP, has been on hunger strike since 18th January 2004 in an attempt to urge the governments of the democratic world to face the question of the genocide against the Chechen people. In his message to the people of Europe he said "The twentieth century was marked by many acts of genocide.Let's make sure that another genocide is not brought to completion in the twenty-first century. We must redoouble our efforts on the 60th anniversary on 23 Feb 1944 of the deportation of the entire Chechen nation to Siberia on the orders of Stalin."

The Chechen people , who are dying at a rate of one every 20 minutes, need your support. Join us at the demonstration from 12-2 pm on 23 February 2004 in Merrion Square.
