Keith Mc Henry to visit Ireland 1-9 December
Keith Mc Henry, the co founder of Food Not Bombs is due to visit Ireland next week as part of his Drop Bush Not Bombs tour.
Food Not Bombs is a worldwide organisation based around taking food which would otherwise be wasted and using it to feed the hungry and/or homeless. It emphasises both the exess waste in todays consumer based society and the amount of money wasted on wars when people are going hungry.
We also provide food for political events or demonstrations.
Food Not Bombs Ireland is relatively new, the current Dublin group began at Reclaim the Streets on Car free day last year. Other groups began to appear around the country at the same time and we have worked together to provide food at anti-war marches including Feb 15th and numerous demonstrations in Shannon as well as each RTS and Buy Nothing Day.
The Dublin group have had run-ins with the park keepers in Stephen's green and have successfully given out veggie burgers outside Mc Donalds and in other locations.
We get out food from vegetable markets at the end of the day or from supermarkets who disgard huge amounts of bread daily.
More people are needed to keep Food Not Bombs going and if anyone is interested in helping please contact us at foodnotbombs@thisbetterworld.org
Keith will be arriving in Dublin and will remain here for a few days. He will talk about the movement he helped start 23 years ago. He will describe Food Not Bombs history, his experience as an American political prisoner and the global Food Not Bombs movement. He will show a video about Food Not Bombs. Keith will also discuss the movement's future and plans for A Food Not Bombs World Gathering to be held the week before the Republican National Convention in New York City.
He will be speaking in Dublin in SpaceKraft on December 3rd at 7pm. SpaceKraft is located on Strandville avenue, North Strand, Dublin 3.
He will travel to Shannon and be there for the Blockade on December 6th helping food not bombs groups from around Ireland to prepare and dispense food. From there he will travel to Belfast on the 7th where he will also be speaking before leaving for Scotland to continue his tour.

Jump To Comment: 1 2 3 4 5FnB is an excellent initiative, and a wonderful way to bear witness at a protest against war and occupation.
This will actually be taking place on the 2nd of December, thats a Tuesday at 7.30, same place. Sorry about that little mix up.
If you dont know how to get to Spacekraft it's just off North Strand road. If you go past Connolly Station, up Amien st. over the canal, it's the second turn on your right, down Strandville ave and between the two sets of railway tracks.
will he be speaking in belfast?
Keith McHenry will be speaking & showing a video in Belfast on Sunday the 7th of December at 8pm at the Pavillion Bar on the Ormeau Rd.
This will be an oppurtunity to meet people involved in organising Food Not Bombs in Belfast & get involved.
There will also be live music from Hornby (somedays better front man plays acoustic set) & EWF (soul/ska/disco/queens).
The gig costs £3 & is a benefit for FNB.
